SXS046 Datasheet Guide: Reading Key Parameters of a 12-Bit 2T2R Transceiver
Published:2026-10-08 · Technical article
This article is a reading framework for the SXS046 data sheet. It does not replace the current official data sheet or sample-level validation. For an AD9361 migration, SXS046 is positioned as a pin-to-pin replacement for the existing hardware design; register configuration and driver behavior still require validation and adaptation as needed.
Start with the system requirement
Capture the intended frequency plan, occupied bandwidth, channel count, baseband interface, reference clock, power budget and operating temperature before selecting register settings. A data-sheet number is useful only when the test conditions align with the target use case.
Read the RF and bandwidth entries together
Evaluate transmit and receive frequency coverage, usable signal bandwidth, gain behavior and calibration requirements as one chain. Confirm the actual application band plan and external filtering on the target board; do not infer end-system performance from one isolated table value.
Check the digital and clock interfaces
Review CMOS/LVDS data-interface mode, timing, reference-clock conditions and SPI configuration. Establish a bring-up record for the initial register image, clock source and FPGA/processor interface tests. This record is the fastest path to repeatable sample evaluation.
What to validate on samples
- Receiver and transmitter function at the target bands and bandwidths.
- Clock lock, calibration sequence and interface stability.
- RF performance, thermal behavior and system-level error recovery under representative conditions.
- Register configuration and driver adaptation with the actual host platform.
